Will the chiller increase my electricity bill?Updated 4 hours ago
No! Our standard water chiller uses just 280 watts per hour, while the PRO chiller uses 500 watts. This only occurs when the chiller is actively cooling, as the thermostat controls operation and both the pump and compressor are running.
The pump runs 24/7 to circulate water, while the compressor cools the water until it reaches your chosen temperature. Once that temperature is reached, the compressor typically runs for only 20 to 30 minutes per hour to maintain it, using roughly one third of the power.
For example, at a room temperature of 25°C and a chiller setting of 8°C, the chiller consumes approximately 1.4 to 1.8 kWh per day. At an average EU electricity cost of around €0.25 to €0.30 per kWh, this works out to roughly €0.35 to €0.55 per day to run The Pod Chiller continuously.
Actual costs may vary depending on local electricity rates, ambient temperatures, and usage patterns.
